Radio communications for your community

Yes, we do public events. W8CRC provides radio communications for events in our community, from your local marathon to helping out with your parade. Our licensed volunteers bring the radios, the know-how and the team spirit to keep everyone connected.

  • Marathons, road races and walk-a-thons
  • Bike rides and charity fundraisers
  • Parades and community celebrations
  • Fairs, festivals and lots more

Why radios?

Communications that do not depend on cell towers

A race course or a parade route can stretch for miles, and a big crowd can overload cell service. Amateur radio gives organizers a direct line between the start, the finish, the aid stations and the folks keeping everyone safe.

It is also great practice. The skills we use at a marathon or a parade are the same ones we rely on in a real emergency, which is why public events and ARES go hand in hand.

Need radios at your event?

Organizers, we would love to hear from you

Planning a race, a parade or a community event and want volunteers on the radio? Get in touch with our club president, and the earlier the better so we can line up operators. Licensed hams who want to help can join us at a meeting and sign up.
